JLT begins deliveries of unique jFlex flexible fixed vehicle computer
JLT Mobile Computers, a developer of rugged computing solutions for the toughest environments, has announced the immediate availability of its revolutionary jFlex in-cab computer. The unique jFlex is the first computer in the company’s brand new Flexible Fixed product concept for hybrid vehicle-mounted computers that can be easily detached from their mountings, enabling them to be used also as handheld devices.
The jFlex provides the same high performance and durability of JLT’s fixed-mounted computers, which are used in a wide range of demanding environments such as the automotive industry, with the added benefit of portability. The new computer is available for immediate purchase from JLT partners worldwide.
The computer is built and tested to IP65, operates in temperatures from -30 C to + 55 C degrees C and is resistant to vibration, which even exceeds recommended limits for trucks and warehouse trucks. It has an Intel Atom 1.6 GHz processor and supports various types of operating systems such as Windows 7, Windows XP and Linux.
The jFlex can be quickly removed from its vehicle mount, making it easy to move the computer from vehicle to vehicle or for secure overnight storage. As the computer is not permanently installed in a specific vehicle, an operator can enjoy the benefit of using it as a PC during his or her free time. This encourages the user to take more care of the equipment, which should reduce the need for servicing and cut repair costs.
“With jFlex, servicing and updating is much faster than with traditional fixed in-cab computers as they can be replaced in seconds. There is also the flexibility to use the computer outside the vehicle. For example, a police officer can remove the unit to use it for issuing fines to speeding motorists or a warehouse employee can use the device for picking on foot in areas of the warehouse that are inaccessible to forklifts,” says Christian Funk, Product and Marketing Manager for JLT Mobile Computers.
